We are a small family company based in the North East of England, specialising in wedding and portrait photography.
My name is Sarah Jane Dodd, my partner Ian and I have over 15 years of experience in the business and pride ourselves in getting to know our client’s likes and dislikes prior to their special day. We generally like to arrange meetings with you so all your expectations and requirements are adhered to. Your venues may be in separate locations therefore we would like to attend and discuss the itinerary of your special day.
Our aim is to give our clients exactly what they want, all of our wedding shots can be constructed to suit your individual requirements. We use top quality equipment bought specifically for weddings, we overlap photographers, at the crucial moments of your day.
We work very closely with Majestic Nights disco and if you are to book both we will arrange a special discounted package.
Wedding
Two photographers will attend your special day at no extra cost thus enabling us, if required to attend both bride and venue addresses at the same time to capture those special moments before the big day begins. All of our wedding shots can be constructed to suit the individual requirements of our clients.
We pride ourselves in being able to mingle with you and your guests enabling us to capture natural photographs and not all posed shots. A typical wedding normally consists of the bride's preparation and guest's arrival on the big day, then both photographers will be at the venue to capture the bride's arrival, then coverage of the ceremony, we then follow on to the reception. We would normally leave after the cutting of the cake.
Our wedding package consists of a master disk with no copyright, typically over 150 photographs and a large photo book of your special day. The disks will normally be ready for approval after three weeks and can be processed at your leisure, no copyright means very low extra cost of buying additional prints for family and friends. There are two advantages to this system, firstly you can print at any photo shop, i.e. Kodak, small photos at a fraction of the usual photographer prices, potentially saving £100s of pounds and secondly and probably more importantly, you are not reliant on a photographer still being in business to produce copies in the future, should your original photographs become worn or damaged. The process for larger photos (above A4 'ish') is more complex and would involve us as an additional cost, large photos require professional printers, different computer file types and often different cropping to retain quality.
None of our sample photographs are taken using models, all are taken by us and are genuine wedding parties taken within wedding time constraints. Furthermore, at our meeting we prefer to show a lot of shots from one wedding rather than our most spectacular shots from each wedding. Therefore our samples are a true portrayal of the content and quality of photo you can expect from us.
Once you have made your decision to employ our services we will send you written confirmation and our terms of business, providing you are happy with this we will require a deposit, once received we will send a receipt and your booking and your date will then be secured. The balance will need to arrive at SJD two weeks before your event. If you cancel between paying the deposit and up to two weeks before we only retain your deposit.
Portrait
We always prefer natural photographs rather than studio poses we are able to travel to various locations in the North East of England to capture families in a more natural environment enjoying themselves rather than in a studio which we have found can be intimidating for small children. We can accommodate those clients who would prefer posed photographs. Our aim at SJD is always to portray the different personalities, characters and emotions of each and every individual.
